The Joyce Fae Jacobs
Cat Care Fund

Honoring a legacy of feline compassion

at 618 Adams Street

From its days as the legendary Camel Bar to its joyful new life as RubyCats, Toledo’s first cat café, 618 Adams Street has always been a refuge for cats — and for the people who love them.

One of those people was Joyce Fae Jacobs, former owner of the Camel Bar and a devoted caretaker who spent decades feeding and nurturing dozens of stray cats in and around the building. Joyce became a neighborhood legend for her generosity and love for animals, once estimating she spent $250 a month on cat food (more than $650 in today’s dollars). Read more about Joyce and the history of 618 Adams.

In honor of Joyce's remarkable dedication and her lasting connection to this very space, we are proud to introduce the Joyce Fae Jacobs Cat Care Fund.

This fund is seeded with a generous gift from Joyce’s grandson, Matthew, a passionate advocate for continuing her legacy of feline care and compassion. Every donation helps provide essential resources for the cats of RubyCats, including meals, regular veterinary care, emergency medical treatment and enriching environments where they can thrive.
